Biography
Elizabeth has lived in Buffalo, Dublin, New York City, Boston, Cape Cod and now lives on
Cape Ann. Her academic background in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work has
coalesced into a unique mixed media. Having worked in reductive and additive
sculpture, relief, textiles, drawing, pastels, oil and acrylic painting, and in gallery installation, Elizabeth is now working
in assemblage (3-dimensional collage) using found, painted, sculpted and constructed elements.
Elizabeth is a member of seARTS, the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts,
and Rocky Neck Art Colony in East Gloucester, the oldest working art colony
in the country. She has shown locally, nationally and internationally.
Artist’s Statement
“Environmental
issues are a strong influence in my work and so is the passage of time. A sense of chronology and anachronism is also present,
expressed in physical aging of the materials. It questions how memories change through the effects of time and through nostalgia.
My work is figurative and narrative. Whether depicted or absent, the subject of the work or the viewer him- or
herself, the figure is always a presence in my work. Story telling is evident in all of the work. The stories range from personal
to political, humorous to spiritually and meditatively introspective."
